About Me

As a psychotherapist, I am collaborative and solution-focused. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. By integrating complementary techniques, I offer a theraputic experience tailored to each client. With compassion and dedicated support in a non-judgmental manner, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and find new resources. Clients then have the opportunity to make significant changes that will enhance the quality of their lives.

The "sommatic narrative" is of great interest to me. Soma comes from the Greek word meaning "body" or "physical". The sommatic narrative is the representation of how our bodies express our life experiences or stories non-verbally. For example, we express our feelings through elements like posture, gestures, facial expressions, eye gaze, prosody and movement; and elements of experience like inner sensations or images. These non-verbal expressions give us a vast amount of information that we might never find by simply talking about a problem. Therefore, by noticing and including the somatic experience in psychotherapy, we have an advantage of having deeper understanding and insight, which in turn allows for profound change.

My early training was at Loyola Marymount Universtiy in Los Angeles where I received my Masters Degree in Movement Therapy. More recently I did further training in EMDR Therapy and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. These two methods compliment one another and are based in mindfulness. They have the ability to help clients access non-verbal information and older "implicit" memories from the past.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO) and a cerified EMDR Therapist speicailizing in individual therapy for adults. My private practice is in Thornhill, where I work with a broad spectrum of clients. Among my areas of focus are anxiety, trauma, phobias and childhood neglect.
